ACP’s Career Blueprint: Navigating Federal Employment for Veterans and Military Spouses
On July 16th, ACP and the Department of Labor take a deep dive into the resources available for those interested in pivoting into the government sector, such as SkillBridge, internships, and the USA Job application process. Our special guests, U.S. Army Veterans Michelle Horst, Human Resources Specialist (Recruitment and Placement), and Matthew Heaney, Regional Administrator, shared their tips and tricks on how to get your foot in the door with an overview of 25+ different agencies and programs.
They also highlighted The Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) program pilot. The program is designed to offer an opportunity earned through service for veterans, veterans serving in the National Guard and Reserve, and their spouses, to take control of their careers through employment-related workshops. OBTT workshops are built to fit your schedule, offered in 2-hour sessions you can mix and match in select classrooms throughout the United States and instructor-led virtually. Amongst these services, other programs were highlighted and encouraged for more exploration. This variety of pathways indicates that you have the power to choose the best route for your career transition. The webinar also concluded with an active Q&A.
