ACP's Career Blueprint: A Fireside Chat with Secretary Anthony Woods - State Benefits to Consider Post-Military

On August 13th, ACP partnered with Maryland’s Department of Veterans and Military Families Secretary Anthony Woods for a LinkedIn Live session on navigating relocation post-transition. Secretary Woods leads a department dedicated to helping Veterans, active-duty service members, and their families secure earned benefits. Secretary Woods is a West Point graduate with advanced degrees from Harvard and the University of Maryland.

He shared insights on transitioning to civilian life and the benefits of moving to different states. He highlighted why Maryland could be an excellent choice for Veterans and their families and discussed pathways for pursuing higher education, obtaining a small business, and basic financial readiness everyone should know before moving forward. Most importantly, Secretary Woods mentioned scams and critical components of filing for VA disability that Veterans should be aware of. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A.
