ACP Presents: Operation Hiring Heroes with International Paper

On June 6th, ACP was joined by International Paper, an American paper company that has been around for over 125 years. With 250 facilities, 35 operating in the U.S. and the rest in 10 other countries, IP works with over 21,000 consumers globally; and actively making initiatives to continue to be more sustainable.

International Paper’s panelists included: Francesca Beaufort - HR Business Partner and also a former Communications Manager with the U.S. Army with over 10 years of service; Jared Smith - North American Container Distribution Operations Project Lead and a retired U.S. Navy Commander with 21 years of service; and Jesse Soto - Leadership Development Consultant and a retired U.S. Navy Human Resources Manager with over 30 years of service. These Veterans shared their personal experiences transitioning out of the military and adapting to civilian life. They provided insights on navigating an ACP mentorship and honed into career progressions. They highlighted that not every transition is simple and you must allow yourself to make mistakes and seek career guidance within your personal communication and professional network. While discussing strategic planning for leveraging military skills, they also emphasized the importance of staying true to one's values. The event concluded with a live Q&A session with the virtual audience.
